Disaster Communications Advisor
The Disaster Communications Advisor (DCA) helps neighbors learn the best ways to communicate effectively during emergency situations through classes, advising and being the go-to for questions. They educate on tools and steps to keep things organized and minimize chaos during emergencies so individuals feel prepared to get the help they need in difficult situations.
In large scale emergencies the DCA reports to the Neighborhood Coordination Center (NCC) and is the main point of contact between our neighborhood's needs and local authorities. They pass on information about our neighborhood to officials and relay to us what we need to do to stay safe, such as evacuation or sheltering in place. They also share important ongoing details about the emergency with neighborhood members.
